Alloy was started in May of 2003 when former members of the metal band Hangman got together for a jam session in a dorm room at San Francisco State University. Guitarist/Singer David Sudia, bassist joseph Matarrese, and drummer phillip Matarrese formed Alloy as a band attempting to mix the grunge hard rock of Seattle with the mellow San Francisco rock sound.
