Joseph Matarrese was born on August 16th, 1984 in Berkeley, California. He grew up in Oakland and moved to Alameda, picking up the bass in 8th grade. He and his twin brother Phill have been playing in the same band together ever since. His influences include Jason Newsted, Flea, Cliff Burton, Stephen Jenkins, Robert Dooley, and Victor Wooten. He is a big fan of bands such as Metallica, Thrid Eye Blind, Stroke 9, AFI, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Hangman.
